Support groups within the Canberra region provide emotional support and information in a caring atmosphere.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

1800 629 354 24hrs crisis service

  • for children and young people with moderate to severe mental illness and their family/carers.

Child Youth & Women's Health Program
Ph: 6207 9977

  • provides a range of services to assist families with a child experiencing eating disorders. Health professionals who may be able to assist include nutritionists, child health medical officers, social workers, and maternal and child health nurses.

Eating Disorders Program
Ph: 6205 1519

  • located in Phillip Health Centre. Multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive assessment and treatment program. Team includes: psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, nutritionist, nursing and exercise therapist. Outpatient and day programs available. Clinical supervision for health professionals.

Parentline
Ph: 6287 3833 9am-9pm Mon-Fri

  • a free, confidential telephone service for parents and families in the ACT and surrounding area. Calls are answered by professionally trained workers who are to help with information and support.

Your local doctor can provide medical advice and referral to hospital for treatment if necessary.
