My teenager wants to know about contraception

Many parents are worried about their teenager's sexual well being and want to protect them from harm and unnecessary suffering. It is very helpful for young people to have access to their own Medicare Card so that they can take responsibility for their own sexual health.

Sexual Health & Family Planning Association ACT

  • provides clinic service and education in the area of contraception, pregnancy, sexual diseases and all areas of sexual health and wellbeing. Counselling available for unplanned pregnancy, sub-fertility, menopause, sexuality etc.

Junction Youth Health Service
Ph: 6232 2441 (open 1-5pm weekdays)

  • where young people are able to access a range of medical and support workers in a relaxed and friendly environment. 

Parentline
Ph: 6287 3833 9am-9pm Mon-Fri

  • a free, confidential telephone service for parents and families in the ACT and surrounding area. Calls are answered by professionally trained workers who are to help with information and support.
