Children of Parents with a Mental Illness (CoPMI)

Children of Parents with a Mental Illness (CoPMI)

Sometimes parents and children require extra support to help them better manage family life, parenting and mental health problems. Children of Parents of Mental Illness (CoPMI) and their families report feeling worried about asking for assistance believing that they will be harshly judged or that their children will be placed in out of home care.

  • Getting support early when parenting gets tough can help families prevent larger problems developing.
  • Getting support early for children and young people who may be affected by family mental illness is a positive approach to parenting.
