ParentLink brochure [PDF 347kb]

ParentLink uses a community education approach that targets parents, aiming to provide easily accessible and up-to-date information about parenting issues and family support systems in the community. The program works in partnership with the community, other government departments and the business sector, using a community education approach through a range of multimedia initiatives.

  • In 1999 a qualitative needs analysis was conducted amongst ACT parents in order to establish what parents thought they needed to assist them in their parenting role.
  • Approximately 16 focus groups were conducted, seeking views of a range of parents in varying circumstances and with children aged from babies and toddlers to teenagers.
  • Results of the research informed the content, tone, look and message of a parenting campaign and the ParentLink program.
  • ParentLink was launched in the ACT on 29 March 2000 by the Chief Minister.
  • Dr John Irvine, renowned child psychologist, author and media personality is ParentLink's patron.
